Where and How to Dock and Dine in San Diego

Artizia Yachts · December 20, 2025 · 5 min read

Pulling up to a restaurant and docking your boat for a meal makes for an exceptional San Diego experience. With minimal rain and year-round boating weather, San Diego is one of the best places in the country for dock-and-dine adventures. Here's your comprehensive guide to the best spots around San Diego Bay and beyond.

North San Diego Bay

This is the main portion of San Diego Bay with the highest concentration of marinas and dock-and-dine options. It can get busy, so arriving before prime eating times (11am for lunch, 5pm for dinner) is highly encouraged.

Bali Hai Restaurant

South San Diego Bay

The furthest south you can go in San Diego Bay, this area is much quieter than the north. The bay is closed by the Silver Strand on Coronado, resulting in less traffic and sometimes easier slip availability. Stay within channel markers as it shallows quickly outside the channel.

Mission Bay

Mission Bay offers a different boating experience with lots of smaller craft traffic—popular for jet ski rentals and other watercraft. There are numerous marinas and it's a great place to anchor and visit Fiesta Island beaches.

Bahia Hotel

  • Location: West Mission Bay Drive

  • Bring Fenders: Protect your boat with adequate fendering
